First, my condolences to Irma’s entire family. I am saddened by her passing.
Irma, indeed a woman of strong resolved and an avid advocate for others. She truly enjoyed here secretarial positions and often talk about the computers back then. The most striking memory of her was telling me of an incident with a high school student. He had used some profanity in class. After speaking to him she asked him to go home and look in the mirror and use the profanity. She said, he never used it again in my class. Curious, I asked her, why look in the mirror? She said, I wanted him to see how he looked saying it, and how stupid it was. I was so impressed with her. At that point, I formed my own opinion of who Irma was in her earlier days--A great example for others, a strong, spirited individual. I often looked forward to speaking with her.
She enjoyed the gardens as she was often found watering the plants and discussing garden arrangement etc. She didn’t let the fact that she was in a wheelchair kept her back. I am so happy that Mount Hope gave her the opportunity to continue to do what she enjoyed. May her precious memories be a blessing to all. You will be missed my friend.
