Nothing was ever “undoable” to Don.
If he found something that interested him, he found a way to do it and do it well … he lived it.
He was able to do this because of his friendly, unassuming nature coupled with his “git-er-done” attitude.
He would go find out who was doing whatever it was that he wanted to do and surround himself with people who were doing it well and learn from them. And Don made a friend with each person that he learned from or taught something to or helped out.
If you needed a hand with something, you only had to look over your shoulder and Don would be there with a tool and conversation that would make the job easier.
Don would imbed himself in a culture, like pool, so much so, that if you met someone in a totally different setting and mentioned that you used to play pool, and found that they had as well … chances are that you both were friends of Don’s. It was like that with drag racing, hot-rods or motorcycles too … if you ran into someone who had those interests too, they were friends of Don’s.
Don had friends wherever he was because, if he sat long enough to have a tea, he would make an impression … with the wait staff, the cashier or the guy he asked “could I bother you for the ketchup, brother?”
I consider that a life pretty well lived … a hundred years long of friendships packed into sixty seven too-short years … well done MY FRIEND.
Kim, Jess and James … we’re so very sorry for the loss of Don.
We are definitely much better for having known him and all of you.
