Obituary of Ernest John Crosse

Ernest John Crosse passed away peacefully at age 96, on February 20, 2026, at Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy, Ontario. Much loved father of Evelyn Crosse, Glenn Crosse, and Richard Crosse (deceased), grandfather of Jennifer Almeida and Jamie Saidak, and great-grandfather of Taylor, Zachary, Thomas, and Lucas Almeida.

Ernie was born and raised in Romford, Essex, England. As a young member of the British Army Reserves, he participated in post-WWII reconstruction activities in Germany.  In 1960, he made the big move to Toronto, Canada, with his wife, Betty, and their young son, Richard.

Ernie was very inventive, loved knowing how machines worked and built things such as a car, motorcycle, boat, and helped build an airplane. He had many talents and surrounded himself at home with model boats, carvings, and paintings he had made.

Ernie started and co-owned a small business for over 40 years, designing and fabricating specialized metal components often for geophysical survey equipment. One of these components ended up going to the International Space Station as part of the Canadarm. He kept working until age 86.

Ernie was incredibly loyal, kind, patient, modest, and attentive to his family. His children remember very fondly when he would take them on adventures such as camping trips, cross-country skiing, and dirt bike races. And he was always there for his family during hard times.

He was a truly outstanding person and loving father. He will be greatly missed.

Much appreciation to the staff at Sprucedale Care Centre for demonstrating excellent care and respect for Ernie during his final couple of years.

A private scattering of his ashes on the water will occur at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the London-Middlesex Humane Society or the Alzhiemer Society in Ernie's name would be appreciated by the family.
