Obituary of Phyllis Marlene Kerr
Phyllis Marlene Kerr
Our loving mother Phyllis Marlene Kerr of Komoka, Ontario, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. She was 88 years old. A cherished mother to Mark Kerr, Bud Kerr(Alison), Jerri Wright(John), and Joni Kenner(Bob). A loving sister to Joyce Sills(Mike), predeceased by her brothers Roy Stubbington(Georgette), Bruce Stubbington(Sally) , and Tyrone Stubbington. Adored by her grandchildren Brian Kerr(Stacey), Jennifer Lange(Denis), Kelly MacFarlane, Sara Kerr, Tyler Wright, Chris Wright(Linda), Denise Wright Ianni, Matt Wright(Krista), and great grandchildren Jackson, Juliana, Taevs, Munro, Kailey, Kinley, Justin, Brooke, Mitchell
and Kendra. Sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including lifelong friend Rose Morris.
Born in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) on February 10, 1938 to Jean and Royal Stubbington. The family moved to Windsor where Mom did her schooling, met Dad, had her kids, then moved to Chatham when they were very young. All her kids grew up in Chatham. Mom had many jobs over the years. She was a Lab Tech for Campbell Soup, then moved to a secretarial position where she was fluent in shorthand and could type 110 words a minute on the typewriter. She also worked at International Harvester as a fork lift driver. Mom moved west in 1980 then back to Ontario in 2004 to Komoka. She worked as a PSW worker in the dialysis dept at the University Hospital in London. Mom worked hard until her retirement at the age of 67. She spent her retirement flying around the country to spend time with her kids. Nothing meant more to her than family. She grew to love the friends she met along the way.
Following mom’s wishes, she has been cremated and will be laid to rest with her Dad at Victoria Memorial Gardens in Windsor. Family and friends will be notified when it will take place in the warmer weather.
We wish to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for her over the years. They gave us many more years with her for which we will be forever thankful.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation to a charity on her behalf, MCBN (Make Children Better Now) was very dear to her heart, and/or because of her love of animals you can donate to any animal shelter in your community.
There’s an old Japanese saying “Crying is how your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is”.
Rest in peace mom…..until we meet again. To the moon and back.
Love Mark, Bud, Jerri, and Joni
