Obituary of Shirley Constance Marr
With immense sadness, but deep pride in a life well lived, we announce the passing of Shirley Constance Marr (née Maguire) of Lambeth, Ontario, on April 10, 2026, in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Keith, who passed away on September 26, 2023.
Shirley will be forever cherished and missed by her loving family: her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sheree (Featherstone), David and Juliana (Pattyn), and Stephen and Lisa (Kitagawa). She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Derek (Stephanie), Ryan (Emily), Kellie (Kris), Andrew (Amanda), Jason, and Kate, and a delighted great-grandmother to Everlee, Jensen, Dana, Alexander and Avalon.
Born on May 14, 1929, in London, Ontario, Shirley was the beloved daughter of Ferguson and Nellie (Cowie). She was raised in London, where she built the foundation of a life defined by family, strength, and quiet grace.
After meeting Keith and marrying in October 1953, they began their married life on the farm. Shirley became an integral part of the family farming business, contributing in countless ways over the years. Her steady presence and tireless support were at the heart of the family’s success.
She also took great pride in her musical accomplishments as a member of the Earle Terry Singers, with whom she traveled throughout Canada and Europe, and a proud member of the United Church Choir for years. A talented seamstress, Shirley was always immersed in a new project—reupholstering furniture or crafting cushions that brought warmth to her home.
Shirley treasured her time at the family cottage in Grand Bend. What began as childhood summers became a cherished ritual she continued well into her mid-80s, creating lasting memories for generations.
We are deeply grateful for Alicia’s unwavering dedication to Shirley and Keith’s personal care and well-being. Her compassion, attentiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond brought comfort and dignity to their daily lives. Alicia took special care to ensure Shirley’s happiness, offering not just support, but genuine kindness and warmth.
The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Victoria Hospital in London and Jessica’s House in Exeter for their care and support during Shirley’s final days.
A private family visitation and interment will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Jessica’s House, 70776 London Road South, Exeter, Ontario N0M 1S1 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be shared at www.funeraloptions.ca.
Shirley’s legacy of love, creativity, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew her.
