Celebration of Life for Wayne MacKenzie
Obituary of Wayne Douglas MacKenzie
Wayne Douglas Mackenzie, age 70, passed away in hospital on the morning of May 3rd, 2026.
Wayne worked for the London Transit Commission for over 30 years but was a jack of all trades his whole life. He was an amatuer tennis player and motorcyclist in his youth, an avid golfer and darts player in retirement, and a lifelong euchre player and popcorn maker.
Wayne is survived by his partner, Bonnie; his children, Madeline (Mark) and Jordan; his two granddaughters, Mary and Isabella; his sister, Donna (John).
A celebration of life will be held on May 15th, 2026 at 4:00-9:00 PM at Victory Legion Branch #317 in London, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Wayne’s honour.
Wayne was known for his happy, light-hearted nature; everyone who knew him would agree he was the most fun to be around. A self-proclaimed "big kid”, he was the life of any party, always the first to welcome you in and offer you a beer. He loved cooking, rock and roll, cannonballs and a sentimental card. But most of all, he loved to spend quality time with his friends and family. He was a loyal friend, a proud father, and the best playmate to all ages. A die-hard Boston Bruins fan (even in the face of Bonnie's love for the Toronto Maple Leafs), and a proud Canadian. He is already deeply missed by the Mackenzie, Simmons, and Roberts families, and all who knew him.
