Obituary of Ruth Mary Steinbach

With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Ruth Mary Steinbach, who passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly.

Ruth was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Melissa, and the proud and adoring Nana of Benjimen, Jacob, Sawyer, Isabella, and Tobias, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life. Nothing made her smile more than being with her grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent making memories with them.

She was predeceased by her beloved twin brother, Roy. Ruth leaves behind her brothers, Al and Andy, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

For 37 years, Ruth dedicated herself to caring for others through her work at Dearness Home. She was immensely proud to be part of the Dearness family and treasured the friendships, laughter, and purpose she found there. Her coworkers were far more than colleagues—they were family, and she spoke of them with love and pride.

Ruth shared a lifelong friendship with her dearest friend, Penny, whose unwavering love and companionship brought comfort, laughter, and countless cherished memories throughout the years.

Those who knew Ruth will remember her warm heart, her sense of humor, and the simple things that brought her joy. She loved a good game of cribbage and could often be found passionately cheering on her beloved Browns. She found happiness in time spent with family and friends, and her kindness and caring spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Ruth's love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear will live on in the countless lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

In keeping with Ruth's caring spirit and sense of humor, she and the family kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations of toilet paper be brought to the celebration of life to be taken to Anova London, to support women and families in need.

Anyone who ever visited Ruth's house knows that you never showed up empty-handed—you brought a roll of toilet paper. It became a running joke among family and friends, one that always brought laughter and perfectly captured Ruth's practical nature and ability to find humor in everyday life. It seems only fitting that, in her memory, one final roll be shared with those who need it most.
