Obituary of Jemima Norwood Orr

Peacefully on July 4, 2026 in her 90th year in London, Ontario.

Beloved wife of John Cadzow Orr (Deceased).

Loving mother of Vivian Gerstner (Ronald - Deceased) of Michigan; Andrew Orr (Jamie) of Colorado; and Joanne Orr (Michael Jenner) of London.  

Dearly loved grandmother to Ronald (Christin);  Kelly (Andy); Collin (Julia); Chloe; Cameron; Cortney and Mitchel.

Great grandmother to Gavin, Sophia, Karley, Katerina and Ivy.

Dear sister to Betty Frackers (Fred) of London. 

Aunt to Vicky and Cindy.

Ina was born in Glasgow, Scotland.  She grew up during World War II.  As a young girl, she endured repeated blackouts and bombings.  The shipyards were nearby and hence, her hometown was a target.   She carried these memories and lessons learned with her for the rest of her life.  Being a natural caregiver, it was no surprise that Ina decided to study nursing.  She took great pride in this and especially the care she provided to tuberculosis patients. At one point, Ina worked at Singer Sewing Machine where she was crowned the beauty queen title of "Ms. Singer Sewing Machine" out of over 250 women.   This is where Ina met her husband, John, when he literally swung from the rafters onto her desk to introduce himself.  After a short courtship, John moved to Canada and Ina followed shortly thereafter.    After several years and three children later, John and Ina moved to the United States where they met many friends and were members of the Scottish-American Society.     John and Ina were early retirees and were fortunate to spend many years spending their time in Grand Bend, Canada; Clearwater, Florida and Michigan.   Ina enjoyed golfing, lawn bowling, dancing, socializing, music, going to the beach and painting beautiful watercolour pictures.   

Ina was loved by many.  She was kind, compassionate, caring, gracious and extremely funny (sometimes not on purpose).  For instance, she once asked a group of people visiting her on the patio if they wanted some peanut butter cookies.   After all said yes, she reiterated that this was "crunchy" peanut butter, the kind that had nuts just to make sure nobody had nut allergies.   She was told "crunchy or smooth, it's still peanut butter. 

Ina lived a long adventurous life with many stories, many friends and a loving family.    She will be dearly missed.  

Please join the family in a Celebration of Ina's Life, to take place from 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Greenhills Country Club, 4838 Colonel Talbot Road, London, Ontario, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 pm and reception.
