Over the 50 plus years we have know you, you have always been a source of inspiration and positivity. I am sure that my family has been forever shaped by your presence. We would not be who we are today without your affection.

To say we loved you, would be an understatement. There is nothing we would not have done for you and Emma.

Condolences to The Beardshaw family. We will remember Sir George Beardshaw.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

One of my fondest memories of George is the way he could make me laugh, even while speaking about the most difficult parts of his life. He often teased me that he “wasn’t famous until he met me,” and I would always laugh—but behind the joke was a friendship I treasured deeply.

George trusted me with his story, supported the work of Home Children Canada, and stood beside me as we worked to ensure the experiences of the British Home Children would never be forgotten. I will always remember his kindness, his optimism, and the remarkable way he rolled with every hardship life placed before him.

Knowing George was one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will miss his stories, his humour, and simply hearing his voice, but I will carry his friendship and his faith in our work with me always.

Rest easy my good friend.

Sir Dr. George Beardshaw Cpl you were a great Veteran & Rifleman of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. You shared your memories and experience of when you moved to Canada from England. Seeing you and Emmy on the QOR Association tour in 2000 in the Netherlands was a great pleasure. When I stayed in Deventer with my Dutch family were you were a POW before the end of WW2.

You were so enjoyable to chat with and will miss our conversations. From the BBQ in the South Western Chapter in London and being there when you turned 100 and being presented with France's highest honor The Legion of Honor Medal. To you riding in the WW2 Bren Gun Carrier at the Annual Warriors Day Parade and carrying the Torch of Remembrance in 2024.

Sir, you will be missed and I thank you for your service in WW2 and for being a advocate for the Home Children of Canada.
