Obituary of Tammy Lynn McKay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Lynn McKay, who passed away on July 17, 2026, in London, Ontario, at the age of 63, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Tammy was born on February 14, 1963, in Sarnia, Ontario, to the late Margaret Mooers and Douglas Elrick.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Misty-Lynn Stahlbaum (Sam Stahlbaum), Kyle Baker, and her stepdaughter, Brandi-Lee Riggs; her cherished grandson, Jackson Oliver Stahlbaum; and her beloved German Shepherd, Dakota.

Tammy lived life on her own terms. She was a strong, intelligent, and determined woman who took great pride in the life she created. She valued independence, hard work, and the ability to accomplish things for herself. Those who knew Tammy knew she had a strong personality and a confidence in who she was that made her unforgettable.

Tammy built a successful career as a self-employed legal transcriptionist. She was proud of her work, her knowledge, and the skills she had developed over the years. She enjoyed sharing her experience with others and took great satisfaction in mentoring and helping people succeed.

Beyond her work, Tammy found happiness in the things she created and cared for. She loved gardening and growing vegetables for her grandson, Jackson, baking homemade bread, training her dog, and crocheting blankets for the people she loved. The handmade gifts she left behind are treasured reminders of the time, care, and love she put into everything she did.  Family meant a great deal to Tammy. She loved her children, and she treasured the time she spent with her grandson, Jackson. Watching him grow and creating memories together brought her great joy.

Tammy was known for her honesty, humour, and quick wit. She had a wonderful laugh and a way of bringing personality and energy into any room. She was generous, loyal, and always willing to help those who needed her.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for the compassionate care, dignity, and support they provided to Tammy and her family. Their kindness during such a difficult time will never be forgotten.

In keeping with Tammy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Springs Restaurant in London, Ontario. Friends who wish to attend are kindly asked to contact the family.

Tammy's strength, humour, determination, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
