Obituary of Charles Alfred Stillwell

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Peacefully at home Deacon, Charles (Chuck) Alfred Stillwell ended a long and courageous, 16 year battle, with ALS on July 22nd 2026.

Chuck was lovingly surrounded at home by family and friends. An amazing husband of 53 years to Brenda Joy. Caring Father to Kristin (Dave) and Chuck Jr. Enthusiastic and dedicated Poppa to Austin (deceased) and Caleb Stillwell and Nathan, Jenna and Zoey Cooper.  Beloved brother to Jennie (John) Vassallo , and Vicki (Ken) Beauprie and his brothers and sister in-laws.  Loved by so many nephews, nieces, and friends.

He cheerfully navigated a long and difficult ALS journey supported by his daughter Kristin RN BScN, son Chuck and an amazing crew of dedicated medical professionals that made it possible for a full life at home and at his beloved trailer. There Chuck enjoyed birdwatching, nature and booting around in his wheelchair. He was always reminding us to be “Happy, happy”.

Chuck's mission in life was to serve others. He did this as a missionary in Haiti, during his many trips to eastern Europe, or by caring for the person God put in front of him.  We trust Deacon Chuck is now hearing the words “Well done good and faithful servant”.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Micheal's Catholic Chuch in London On. July 28th at 11 o'clock. Following mass internment will take place at St Peter's Cemetery with a reception at the church hall after.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ALS Society of Canada,180 Bloor Street West, Suite 500, Toronto, ON M5S 2V6 or a charity of your choice.
