Obituary of Catherine Anne Classens
Cathy Classens (née Whitty) died peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, August 16th, 2026. Cathy is survived by her devoted husband, Marty; three loving children, Kerri (James), Michael (Serena), and Joey (Shauna); and seven adoring grandchildren, Jacob and Gavin (Kerri), Emry, Maude, and Clement (Michael), and Leo and Ruby (Joey). She is also survived by her three brothers, John, Tim (Jeanie), and Rick (Teresa), brother-in-laws Casey, Jerry, Will, Claude, and sister-in-laws Nell, Anne, and many nieces and nephews.
Cathy was born in London, Ontario on March 13, 1953 to loving parents Leo and Barb Whitty. She met Marty in the summer of 1972, and they were married January 27, 1973, sharing their lives together for over 53 years. Cathy worked for the Federal Ministry of Labour, as a Labour Officer, retiring after 30 years of service in August 2012. In her retirement Cathy enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to either the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A service will be held at St Justin’s Parish (855 Jalna Blvd.) on Saturday, August 22nd. Visitation will begin at 11:00am followed by the funeral mass at 12:00pm. A light lunch will be served immediately afterward in the church hall.
