Patricia (Pat) Vande Sompel

So, it has happened. On August 13th, 2026, I took my good memories, my artificial joints and moved on to my next adventure.  There I will join my parents, Arceen and Zulma, my brothers, Camiel, Arceen Jr. and Bob, sister June, nephews Brian, David and Leo Jr., and niece Terry. Survived by siblings Antionette “Tony”, Richard, Sharron and Lewis “Lewie”.

Writing my own obituary gives me opportunity to thank those close to me.  To my parents, thank you for the love, support and lessons learned.  To my brother Lewie – although you and our brothers teased me growing up, I thank you for the movies you took me to and for all those moves from apartments and cities that you helped me with (even though you did leave my chair behind in Toronto).  To my sister June, thank you for sharing your birthday with me.  You once said that I was the best birthday gift you ever got, well I was proud to your “twin” sister fifteen years removed.  To all my nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, I am proud of the adults you have become. And especially to my friends – your friendship, our shared laughter and good times, your support in the difficult times have truly been appreciated.

According to my wishes, cremation will have taken place and there will be no memorial service.  Rather, think of me when you share a laugh, savor a delicious chocolate, enjoy a great book or movie, get a great bridge hand, see a beautiful sunset.  If you wish, donations may be made to the London Public Library, 251 Dundas St., London, ON N6A 6H9.
