Obituary of Frederick John Wands

It is with great sadness that the family of Fred (Frederick) Wands shares the news of his passing on Feb 26, 2024, peacefully with his wife Kathy by his side. In his 71st year, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years Kathy (Glassford) Wands, his cherished sons Adam, Derek and James (Emma) Wands, his adored grandchildren Bella and Charlie Wands

He is predeceased by his parents George and Jean Wands and his nephew George Wands. Survived by his brother George (Claudine) Wands, sister Dr. Kimberley Wands, brother-in-laws John (Joanne) Glassford and Paul (Anne) Glassford, his sister-in-laws Debbie GIbson, Vicki (John) Millman,and Jennifer Glassford. 

Caring Uncle to Jarret ( Alisha) Wands, Ben (Amanda) Wands, Kate (Pat) Sutter, Victoria Wands, Sarah MIllman, John Millman, Megan (Dan) Arn, David (Linsay) Gibson, Laren (Ian) Guy, Lindsay (Evan) Glassford, Danielle Glassford, Holly Glassford, Blake Glassford, TJ (Julie) Glassford, Matthew Glassford, his loving Aunt Doreen Clark and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Born in London, he attended South Secondary School and spent his career working at 3M London for 39 plus years. His most favorite place of all was Sauble Beach where he spent his summers and weekends exploring his passion for motorcycles, scuba diving, windsurfing, reading, gun club ,boating, music and partying with great friends. His love of travel took him to numerous places and in his failing few years enjoyed continued travel thanks to his treasured friends Kurt and Mary Kilsch. He will also be greatly missed by lifelong childhood friends Mark (Betsy) Gore, Jay Gore and John Millman. 

A special thank you to my sister Vicki Millman who spent countless hours caring for him.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday,  April 27th, 2024 at the German Canadian Club on Cove Rd.. Drop in from 1 - 4 PM. 

In Lieu of flowers donations would be greatly appreciated to the Alzheimer Society or the Food Bank. Cremation has taken place through Affordable Funeral Options and any messages of condolence may be left on their website as follows: www.funeraloptions.ca
