Veronica Mitchell, 93, died on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Mount Hope Centre For Longterm Care. Veronica passed peacefully in her sleep with her son and daughter close at hand. She is survived by her brother Chris Bowden and his wife Loraine; daughter Anne Reid and husband Gene; her son Andrew Mitchell and wife Jasna; grand children Julie and John Wiseman; step-grandchildren Leslie Novakovic and Leana Ferguson; as well as great grand daughter Myhiya. Veronica lived an extraordinary life, surviving the bombing's in Manchester England during World War II and going on to live in many countries at a time when world travel, especially for a single woman, was unusual. The two great loves of Veronica’s life were her ex husband Ken and her best friend Bill, both of who proved to be the perfect sparring partners for such a spirited woman. Some of Veronica’s happiest memories include the times she and Bill spent listening to local bands at MaryHill as well as her years square dancing with her daughter Anne. These dancing days were faithfully recorded in her journal known affectionally to us as “momentous moments in mamas’ memoirs”. A natural story teller, listening to the tales of mothers life at family gatherings gave a treasured glimpse of a world before TV and the Internet.
