Obituary of Keith George Marr

Please share a memory of Keith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With immense sadness but with pride in a life well lived, we wish to announce that Keith George Marr of Lambeth, Ontario passed away unexpectedly in his 95th year on September 26, 2023.

Keith's smiling face and generous spirit will be forever missed by the entire Marr family: his beloved wife of 70 years, Shirley (Maguire); his sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Sheree (Featherstone), David and Juliana (Pattyn), and Stephen and Lisa (Kitagawa); his grandchildren and their partners: Derek (Stephanie), Ryan (Emily), Kellie (Kris), Andrew (Amanda), Jason, and Kate; and great-grandchildren Everlee, Jensen, Dana, and soon to arrive Alexander.

Born in London, Ontario on November 21, 1928, Keith was raised by his parents, Norman and Nellie (Janes), on a farm just outside Lambeth. This sparked a life-long passion for agriculture: from buying and selling dairy cattle, to grain inspection, to raising beef cattle, and even driving tractors and other farm equipment well into his 90's, Keith could usually be found happily working away on the farm. Blessed with a tireless work ethic, he turned his gift of gab into a second career as a succesful real estate agent in the later part of his life.

The consumate people person, Keith never met someone he couldn't talk to for hours, and loved doing so. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of Southwestern Ontario, knowing the history of every house, farm, and family he ever encountered. This is particularly true of Lambeth, where he was a lifelong resident and pillar of the community. His was a familiar face, always willing to lend a helping hand or word of encouragement to anyone and everyone he met.

Keith was an avid fisherman since childhood, taking every opportunity to head to Devil Lake to enjoy his favorite pastime. His parents took him to this lake as a teenager, a tradition that has carried on with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will continue on as part of his legacy.

Our deepest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for their care in Keith's final days. A private family visitation and internment will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London, Ontario. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
