Our Family Serving Yours
For over 36 years, it has been my privilege to serve and bring comfort and ease to people at an uncertain time. I decided to venture out on my own after three of my close friends died and I started to question the events that were meaningful to their families and helped with their grieving process. During my last lunch with my friend Diane before she passed away, I remember her saying very emphatically "Carolyn - I don't want any of that "stuff". Diane proceeded to tell me that she didn't want people looking at her in an open casket or embalming but she did want her family to gather with her friends for a glass of pinot grigio and some comforting food. Diane didn't need a funeral home - her family rented the Rose Garden in London and invited her friends to stop by and celebrate the wonderful life that Diane had lived. In the obituary they requested that her friends wear red to honour her memory. Tables of pictures were set up throughout the room, her favorite music and a video tribute were playing which made people laugh - and cry. At five oclock her wonderful son said a brief eulogy and we toasted our One of A Kind friend whom is still missed every single day. A few months later Agi and Susan passed away and I remember thinking to myself "Is this what they would have wanted?" I never had the chance to sit with either of them and discuss their arrangements and to be honest, when Susan suggested it, I said "No way - we are too young for that!" I will always wonder what Susan would have said if I had allowed the conversation to happen. It is important to plan ahead and I am going to encourage everyone to think about their wishes and to find out what their family members want, years in advance of need. If you are thinking of a simpler, more affordable option, give me a call and we can discuss your options. My experience has taught me that your traditions and family rituals are the guide to a life celebration that creates lasting memories. - Whether you are planning in advance for yourself or a family member - or at the time of a death, you are guaranteed that YOU are the choreographer in this plan of celebration.
It is my privilege and honor to serve you.
