Daniel Toivo Leipala

November 24, 1952 – May 19, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Dan passed away at St. Josephs’s Hospice, London, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 66. Born and raised in Sudbury, Dan was the son of the late Toby and Julie Leipala. Dan worked in the electrical industry from 1971 to 2003 when he had to go on disability due to rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Dan was a loving husband to Mary (Taylor) for over 45 years. Cherished father of Maija Jane Leipala and Erik Daniel Leipala. He will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law Gladys Taylor, his brother David Leipala, sister Carol Joly (Jake), brother-in-laws Ed Taylor (Wendy), Paul Taylor (Lynn), sister-in-law Jane Smith (Wayne). Predeceased by his brother-in-law Ron Garofolo. He was a favourite uncle to many nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Dan will also be missed by his dog Maggie. Dan loved his family, hockey, baseball, golf, hunting, music and movies. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dan’s life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the family home, 144 Grenfell Crescent, London, ON.
