Please share a memory of Ginette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ginette Marie Gilbert (e Hardy)

After a 3½ year journey with cancer, Ginette passed away peacefully at her home in London, Ontario on the morning of January 25, just a few days short of her 70th birthday, surrounded by close family.

Born in Welland, Ontario, to Magella and Antoinette Hardy (both deceased), Ginette was the youngest of 11 children of which Sister Rita Hardy and Andy Hardy (Francine) remain. Ginette leaves behind Bill, her loving husband of almost 43 years (plus 5 of courting)her son Chris and two grandchildren Chase and Calton, and her daughter Laura and fur-grandbabyThor. There are nephews and nieces, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews too numerous to provide an accurate count.

Relationships were central to Ginetteand she always wanted others to feel valued. She learned words of greeting and gratitude in many languages to start chats with strangers where she would learn more about each individual’s uniquenessShe loved baking cookies and cakes, simmering comfort foods like spaghetti and lasagna, and trying new recipes to host great conversations. Cards and board games were an excuse to get together with friends (and maybe show her playful competitive side). Her gardens and birds brought us all joy.

Ginette worked a variety of jobs in Welland, Ottawa and London most focussing on helping people either improve their place in life or get through the bureaucratic jungle.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a drop-in Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday February 5, 2023 at 1033 Thornley Street in London, Ontario. Masking would be appreciated. We will be adding to her tribute binder if you wish to share a story for the family. Masking would be appreciated. separate memorial will be planned for Welland at a future date.

In lieu of flowers (allergies), the family requests donations in her memory be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Childcan (Childhood Cancer Association) in London or a charity of your choice.
