Obituary of Wanda Joyce Denstedt

Please share a memory of Wanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We invite you to take a moment to honour and remember Wanda Joyce Denstedt.

Wanda passed on October 25 under the loving eye of her husband, Carter, who had been her constant, loyal and loving caregiver. Carter had been caring for Wanda over a tough couple of years and was there by her side as she took her last breath. Although Wanda's final days were difficult, let us all remember her as who she truly was and not let her last days define a greater life lived.

Wanda loved to dance! A couple of Wanda's favourite songs included Colin James Voodo Thing or Harvest Moon by Niel Young. Wanda revelled in the small comforts - good food, a hot cup of coffee or tea, both the sound of and a walk in the rain, her pink slippers, her canvas sneakers/tennis shoes, crossword puzzles, sitting by the pool, enjoying a glass of beer and a habs game with Carter. She took pride in keeping a good home where you were always welcome. Wanda had a wicked sweet tooth, especially for anything black licorice. Even at St Joseph's, Wanda would remind her family when her sweet stash was getting low! Wanda was quick-witted, had a devilish sense of humour and loved to laugh. Her favourite movie was Overboard with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. Her daughter Cindy laughs and rolls her eyes at how many times they watched it together.

Wanda was a beautiful woman who loved to look sharp. Still, you couldn't tell her as she was humble and would poo-poo any compliments UNLESS the compliments were about her family. Nothing gave Wanda more joy or purpose than her family. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were always on her mind, and she was fiercely proud and protective. They could always count on Nanny & Papa's greeting cards and calls for every occasion. The greatest gift is leaving them unforgettable memories of summer swims, frozen treats and barbecues at Nanny and Papas. Wanda's happiest moments were family gatherings, in particular when her own children could be together. Her children honoured this memory by coming together in the days after her passing, knowing how happy she would be to see them "under one roof."

Wanda is survived by her devoted & loving husband Carter; her children (Curt, Tara, Cindy, Jeff) her daughter-in-law Galina; her sons-in-law Corry and Al; and her grandchildren (Kennedy, Connor, Josh, Marcus, Colby, Cason, Danan and Jaxon). The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by St Joseph's Mount Hope Long-Term Care Home. If you would like to share your own memories or express condolence, Wanda's family welcomes you.

Wanda, Nanny, Grammie, Ma, Mom we love, miss and salute you!
