Obituary of Michael James Quayle

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

After a challenging battle with cancer this year, Michael James Quayle, of London Ontario, passed peacefully early morning Sunday, December 8th surrounded by his family, God, and pure love.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lucille (Lou), his daughters Terri (Allan) and Christine (Greg), and his three beautiful grandchildren Dove, Rio, and Kai, of whom he was extremely proud. Mike was a devoted husband, father and an amazing Grandpa who led by example, teaching the kids integrity, loyalty and most importantly to love and be loved. His family was always his number one priority. Mike is also survived by his only brother Rick (Jeanne), brother-in-laws Bob (Lucille) and Richard (predeceased Therese), sister-in-laws Annette (Ray) and Janet (Jim) both predeceased, as well as his many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.

Mike had a long career at London Life and was a proud alumni of Western University. His love for life was infectious, lighting up the room with his personality and smile. He was a kind, caring man that never spoke badly of others and wasn’t one to complain. He had a great sense of humour and was famous for some corny ‘Dad jokes’! Mike had a huge heart of gold, and was most happy when he was in service to others; taking care of his family and community through his many volunteer and leadership roles including the Knights of Columbus, the Byron Optimist Club and delivering food on his weekly ‘bread run’ from Metro to St. Joe’s Cafe. He was also a lifelong passionate golfer and we are all praying for him to finally get his ‘hole in one’ up in heaven!

Mike touched so many lives in his 83 years! He had so many wonderful friends which is a testament to the kind of man he was. Mike’s favourite expression was ‘Carpe Diem’ and he truly did love life and seize each day!

He is already missed, always loved and will never be forgotten.

Mike’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Dec. 14th at St. George Parish, 1164 Commissioners Rd W. (Byron) London, Ontario. Cremation has already taken place. Visitation with the family will be from 10 - 11am, followed by a Catholic mass at 11am, and then a light lunch in the Church Hall afterwards. Livestream of the Funeral Mass available at 11am (or replay afterwards): https://www.youtube.com/@springbankcatholic

Special thanks to Dr. Faulds, Phil Daniel, LRCP staff, RN Nikita, SE nursing and the amazing team at hospice for providing exceptional care, kindness and dignity. Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Joseph's Hospice of London.
