I was shocked and saddened to learn that my old friend Shayne had passed away. My condolences to his family and friends. Shayne and I met when we worked together at a sporting goods store, back when he and Wendy were living in Winnipeg. Shayne was a couple of years older than me, and for this kid just out of high school, I have to admit I'd never met anyone quite like him before. Back then he was rocking his 'Burt Reynolds' 'stache, had a wicked sense of humor and of course the 'gift of gab'. He was passionate about sports (especially Ali fights), music (always finding the latest bands first) and of course 'audio'. I spent many a day off checking out records stores and stereo shops with him - and always laughed when he would school the salesmen. Spent many an evening with Shayne & Wendy at their apartment - how Wendy put up with Shayne's single sidekick is beyond me - and I was proud to be asked to be best man at their wedding. The last time I saw Shayne was when I drove his car down to London, when they made the move. The last time we spoke was when I'd get the occasional late night calls in the '80's - when he would yank my chain and we would have a good laugh together. Rest in Peace Bud!
