Obituary of Leonida Pidlubny

LEONIDA (LEN) PIDLUBNY (nee Dmitrieff) February 13, 1928 – January 12, 2017 Len passed peacefully at the University Hospital of London Palliative Care Unit, with loving family members at her side. Born and raised in Toronto, she was predeceased by her father William, her mother, Wilhelmine, and her brother Eugene. Len was a keen artist and fashion designer, an avid gardener, a lover of classic music and the ballet, as well as a creative and talented professionally trained seamstress. These qualities and talents stayed with her for her whole life, even when busy raising her four children: Susan Babcock (Sandy) of Ottawa, ON; Marta Wells (Stephen), Sydney, Australia; Leslie Pidlubny (partner Graehme) of London, ON; and Michael Pidlubny (Jade) of Toronto. She was loved and will be greatly missed by grandsons Jalen and Matthew. She is also survived by sister Tania Gilchrist (John) of Southampton, ON, and niece Nadia Gilchrist-Lavigne (Jerome) of Burlington, ON. A special thank you to the caring staff at Chelsey Long Term Care in London, for providing a warm and safe home for Len for the last six years. A very special and warm thank you to the doctors, nurses and support staff at University Hospital, London – especially during Len’s final days with us. Your nurturing and care made all the difference to Len and her family as she made her final journey. A ceremony of life, love and remembrance will take place at Chelsey Park Long Term Care, 310 Oxford St W, London, ON, at 4:30 pm, Tuesday January 17, 2017. A spring Interment will take place at a later date, at York Cemetery, Toronto, ON.
