Anne Connor
Connor, Winifred Annie "Anne"
In her hundredth year, Winifred Annie Connor (nee Donne)  passed away on February 8, 2021.  Anne (Don't dare call her Winifred!) has always been defined by her overwhelmingly joyful spirit and trademark wit, which no amount of adversity could shake.  Born on 2/2/22 in Brighton, England, that joy had her on swing sets with friends, trying to swing all the way over the bar.  It shone through when she worked as a welder in wartime England, where, at an   "excuse-me"dance, it captured the love of Martin Connor, of London, Ontario who was stationed in England with the Canadian Armed Forces.  It carried her through embarking alone to her new country, and after 23 years of marriage and six children, it bore her through Martin's untimely death in 1968.
Anne is terribly missed by her children Susan, Maureen, Mary,  Michael, Stephen, and Patrick, as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  Anne stayed in the home she bought with Martin, and in which she raised her children, until the end, and though her health began to fail, she was tapdancing in the living room just a few months ago (to prove she still could, you know).  Anyone who knew her will tell you that it was that sense of fun ,more than any wrinkles, that embodied who Anne was.
Her loss is felt deeply.  But though she may not be offering any more cups of tea for now, we can be sure that it is with the same youthful joy that she's swung over the bar at last, and is reunited with Martin in God's embrace.
A funeral Mass and reception will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be offered at www.funeraloptions.ca.   Memorial donations  may  be made to  the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Humane Society (London and Middlesex), or the charity of your choice.
