Doug always made one feel very welcomed and part of his family. My favourite memory of Doug is really a collection of events. He was a notorious story teller and his tales would have the most incredulous endings.... He would end up being related to, or have worked with, or went to school with.... regardless, Doug was the inventor of "degrees of separation" where he could find a connection with any random person in the world. I think that is why he loved travelling so much. These stories were always believable, vaguely familiar (as he probably told you the story 100 times but you forget all the details but Doug didn't. My favourite part of these "voyages" was that Shirley would often correct him keeping him on track, on point, and with the correct details. We loved our Christmas Eve dinners with Doug and his family. They treated us like one of their own.
He will be missed, especially his laugh. Our condolences and sincere sympathies to family and friends. I know there are many.
