Joan Sinclair née Cuthbertson, 66, of London Ontario passed away peacefully into the arms of God on May 3rd, 2021 at Parkwood Hospital after an almost 3 year battle with ALS.

Joan was born in Ottawa, Ontario March 21st, 1955. Predeceased by her biological parents Fay (Brian) Rath of Dorchester, Ontario (2016) & Joseph O’Neill of Hamilton, Ontario (2019).

Joan was placed into the loving home of Ernest & Aileene Cuthbertson of London, Ontario at the age of 3 months.  Predeceased by her father Ernest Cuthbertson (1976), Her mother Aileene Gilbert will celebrate her 100th birthday on May 23rd.

Joan will be greatly missed by her daughters Erin (Scott) Fickling, Heather Sinclair (Jonathan Augustine) and grandchildren Tiffani Fickling, Ashleigh Jordan Fickling and Liam Augustine. Predeceased by her son Jordan Sinclair (1991). She will also be missed by many others who touched her life; Aunt Jean Arnott, Aunt Reta Zinn, Arthur Gilbert, Ronald Sinclair, Derrick Rath, and Dear Friends Yvonne Jeavons, Monique Angelo, Pat Stodolski, Fran Eberhard and Shirley Percival.

Joan worked for over 20 years as a crossing guard mostly at Quebec St. & Lorne Ave. and Guildwood Blvd. & St. Croix Ave.; as well as operating a successful cleaning & pet sitting business. Through both of these jobs, Joan gained many connections & friendships before retiring her mop & stop sign in 2019 after her diagnosis of ALS. 

We would also like to thank the PSWs & Nurses who cared for our mom while she was home, Especially Amanda, Linda, Darlene & Ronel; Dr. Shoesmith & her team at the ALS clinic at University Hospital; and all the staff at the Complex Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital. 

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to helping make Joan’s  wish trip to Alaska a success in July 2019. Those memories are something we will cherish forever.

Cremation has taken place & as per Joan’s wishes, a private burial will take place at a later date.
