Obituary of Karen Earlene Gorman

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On June 10th, 2021, Kim and Brad greeted Mom with open arms. With our deepest sadness we announce Karen Earlene (nee Shaddock) Gorman of St. Thomas Ontario, in her 72nd year passed away with her family by her side at the amazing St. Joseph Hospice in London, ON.

Karen was a loving partner & wife of Rick for 45 years. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie Shaddock and daughter in law of the late Harold “Heck” and Lil Gorman.

She will be lovingly remembered as a very caring mother to Heather Gorman Murray(Brad), Michele Rioux(Mark), Sherry Watson(Rob), Mark Watson(Heather). Predeceased by daughter Kim Haley(Ken) and son Brad Gorman. Karen was beloved Grandma to John, Kyle, Kelsey, Melanie, Sydney, Neil, Ben, Jordan, Dylan, Gavin, Dawson, Bialy and great Grandma to Roman, Sylvia, Ava, Jillian, and Eli.

Karen was an adored sister of Lorelei Battram (Dale), Wendy Thomson (late Carlyle), Debbie Wiseman (Jim), Rose Shaddock (Ed), Julie Nelson (late Ken), Vicki Huber (Del), Doug Shaddock (Shawna). Predeceased by her brother-in law Chuck VanderKant and nephew Dennis Jeffery O’Leary. Karen was an cherished sister-in law to Harold Gorman, Linda Quinn(Garnet) and Bob Gorman(Becky). Karen was loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Karen enjoyed to camp and was a snowbird for approx 20yrs. She spent most of her living outdoors, working in her gardens, traveling throughout Canada and USA with Rick, in their RV. They were affectionately known by the kids as the “gypsies”. Karen and Rick made many friends all over North America, and they visited with them whenever possible.

Karen graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing school. Karen was as a pediatric nurse at St Joseph's hospital and co- ordinator at Comcare, these were the highlights of her career. She remained close to her work family after her retirement. Karen was a real people person and her world was her close knit family, friends, and social groups.

During her illness, Karen was well cared for by her loving husband, with the help of St Thomas VON RN’s and MD’s, in their home. At Karens request, she was transferred to St Joseph’s Hospice for her final days. Karen had the upmost respect for all the medical staff involved in her care and wished for any memorial donations to be sent to St. Joseph’s Hospice and St Thomas, VON.

As per Karen's wish a cremation will take place and there will be a memorial gathering at a later date. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone that has reached out during this difficult time.
