Obituary of Ronald Burle Patrick

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ronald Burle Patrick loved to laugh.  Everyone who met him soon came to appreciate his gentle, dry wit.  A good part of his philosophy of life was based on the premise that you could choose to be happy.  And he was.  This was never so evident than in the last few years when life became very challenging.  He continued to tease and trade quips and made those around him smile and laugh.

Ron’s keen intellect and insatiable curiosity led him to a wide and varied range of interests.  His love of history is remembered by his students who recall him as a soft spoken, gentle man who was easy to approach and confide in.  This love of history also led him to extensive travels all over the world.  He was endlessly curious and his travel itineraries included theatre performances, art galleries, museums of all sorts, military battlegrounds, medieval ruins, cathedrals,  synagogues, turtle farms and catacombs.  All approached with equal enthusiasm.  He also had a keen interest in the military which led to him serving in the Canadian Reserve army for several years.

Ron was a thoughtful, loving and supportive partner and husband to Ann Marie.  She has lost her best friend and the love of her life. Ron is predeceased by his son Rob. He is survived by his siblings Bill (Patricia) and Karen (late Jim) and their families as well as other extended family members.

Ron wanted to leave the world a little bit better for his being in it.

Well done, Ron, you succeeded admirably.
