Obituary of Bill McDonald

“You were loved every step of the way…”

William “Bill” Stewart McDonald of London, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 78 after a long illness. His beloved wife of 60 years Kit (McKinlay) and their family were by his side. Married young, this couple set out on an adventure to Canada to build a new life together in challenging times.

A cherished Dad is being reunited with his daughter Lorraine Landgren (Bill and son Liam) who passed away in April 2018. A wonderful father to Gary McDonald (Tara). A delightful Papa to his 3 granddaughters who he shared unique and precious memories with Brittany (Scott), Aria (Ryan), Kayley. 2 special great grand-pups Luna and Baxter. 

Bill was born in Aberdeen Scotland on May 11, 1944 and is survived by his brother Andrew McDonald (Chhaya). Loved also by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a group of very special friends including (Terri and Jeff Miller). Bill enjoyed many hobbies over the years, and often amazed us with his talent. He loved music, painting, stained glass, making wine and cooking. We loved listening to Bill’s stories from childhood and how he creatively patched his bike tires and hated throwing out leftovers…something could be made from anything.

He showed strength and determination throughout his illness in seeking treatments to get well so that he could spend more time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned. Donations can be made to “My Sister’s Place” 566 Dundas Street, London, ON in his memory.
