Dr Shearer was my doctor for the first half, or so, of my life. He was the gold standard by which I measured each and every doctor I have since met. He was always there when needed. My last visit with him was, probably, back in the early 1990s. I was living in Toronto at the time but would still go back to London for appointments with him. He was worth the time and the travel.
I did not know he had passed away. I went for my annual checkup today and told my current doctor about my first.
May the good doctor rest in eternal peace.
Sincerely:
Thomas Glover

Alistair and I are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Robin.
When we first arrived in Canada from Scotland in 1972 he showed us immense kindness and support as we settled in and adapted to a new life, completing the medicals required for immigration, and registering us as his patients. We count ourselves as immensely fortunate that our local doctor happened to be Robin. He delivered our sons, Adam and Luke, and looked after our whole family with the utmost care, attention and friendship. We feel that the care we received was above and beyond what we could have expected, including house calls in emergencies. He was the consummate family doctor.
Robin was a lovely man and we are proud to be able to call him a friend. His death is a huge loss for us.
Rosie and Alistair.

I had the privilege and honor of meeting Robin while working on Saudi Arabia. I loved his dry sense of humor, his love for his family, his love for his friends. I will cherish my memories of watching Four Weddings and a Funeral in the clinic in Saudi Arabia.

I had the privilege of being Robin's priest from 2010 to 2016. I say "privilege" because I always felt blessed to have Robin as one of my parishioners. He was a deeply devout man with a love for the Book of Common Prayer and the Anglican way of being Christian. He combined his deep faith with the many acts of service he did in the church as well as the community. He had a kind heart and an incisive mind - a rare combination in one person. He was in every way God's good and faithful servant, and I feel blessed that I knew this dear man.

Sad to hear of this passing … Robin’s father was my grandmother’s brother (Maude Shearer) I remember him visiting us in England in the late 1960’s and again we met in Australia some years ago . We corresponded from time to time regarding the family history, which we were both working on.
Great admiration for his life and achievements and great to share the faith. Blessings to all…Barry Austin and family

I have many wonderful memories of time spent in the company of Robin and Granya. When Ted and I invited them over for dinner Robin often brought me a beautiful orchid which he had nurtured in his greenhouse.
Those were the good old days!

Robin was the most amazing doctor. He was our family's doctor for many years. Our two oldest girls were brought into this world under his care. When we would go for checkups with our second, he referred to the baby as “baby Charlie”. He would ask our oldest how is baby Charlie doing today? And (she) was baby Charlie right up until she was born! We still sometimes refer to her as baby Charlie, 30 years later. The last time we had seen Robin, we introduced him to Baby Charlie who was around 20 at the time. We had a great laugh. Scott was also fortunate enough to help Robin and Granya with the renovations to their beautiful farm house. Robin will be missed by so many! Our hearts go out to Granya and the family.

He was the nicest person and neighbour. So very kind and always ready to help those around him.
I had not known him long as I am kind of new to the neighbourhood but he was an honourable, kind generous hearted and loving man. It was a pleasure to speak with him. He will be sorely missed.

We are so sorry Granya. We have a special place for you & Robin in our hearts. When Jamie moved to Saipan, we were so worried about her. It wasn’t long before she started talking about this wonderful Doctor that worked there. And of course he was Canadian. Although half his age. Robin was always a friend she could trust. Which gave us such relief. After meeting both of you. We totally understood why! We will always have our memories of our time spent with you at Jamie & Janna’s wedding.

What a beautiful tribute to a lovely man. Robin and I worked together at the cancer clinic and had many laughs. He was always a pleasure to work with. I saw another side of his skills when he took care of my father in law. Such a kind and caring doctor. He always took his time and listened to his patients. Always dressed beautifully, he was a gentleman to his core. Enjoy that heavenly scotch Robin, you are missed.

What a wonderful physician! Truly provided holistic care to each and everyone! I didn’t get to work with Robin until his stint at the LRCP. But we had had such a wonderful time providing robust care to each and every one. We had good fun playing the who who game as each of us had a depth of connection throughout Middlesex county. He was “Doctor” and I was “Auntie”. Thank you Robin for sharing the caring. To Granya Doug and the girls: you have lost a giant. Thank you for sharing him with so many. ♥️

Dr. Shearer was a wonderful doctor that I met with occasionally during my cancer journey at the LRCP-LHSC between 2015-2020. He always had time to listen to my concerns, offering information for me to follow. We often spoke of Scotland, as my father had been born in Airdrie, Scotland, not far from Glasgow. He was kind, patience, a listener, a person who left a huge impact on me. Thank you. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

Robin was a remarkable man! The Shearers and the Lows met through the marriage of their children Douglas and Rebecca, and spent many happy times together at family functions. There was never a lack of mutual interests, whether the pride we took in our Shearer grandchildren, or earnest conversations about theology and hymnology, or our mutual love of classical music. Robin, a man of many gifts, you are loved and will be deeply missed.

I had the honour of working with Robin and got to know him as a person. He loved and was truly dedicated to his profession and his patients. He was always there for his colleagues and provided a great deal of gentle wisdom to younger physicians as they faced life's challenges. With his great sense of humor he always saw the good side of people and situations. As an individual he was definitely a gentleman and dedicated to his faith as a deacon/elder in his church for many years. In his private life he had a passion for his family and gardening. His rock was Granya. A couple truly in love. May the angels greet him with open arms.

Robin & his wonderful wife kept myself & my two girls Robin & Seanna, safe & healthy while in his private practice. We were indeed very fortunate as he saved my life three times. My first daughter is named after Robin & a coincidence, my second daughter married a fine gentleman with the last name Shearer & is in the medical profession. Robin, without a doubt was an incredibly amazing Doctor and person. I will thank him with a prayer and do extend my condolences to his wife & entire family.
