Obituary of Christopher David Thorne

Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Unexpectedly, while working in his beloved garden at his residence in Tara, Chris passed away on November 3, 2020 in his 55th year.  Beloved son of Roger and Bonnie Thorne. Loved brother of Ron (Judy) of Burnaby, British Columbia and Jay (Deborah) of Port Coquitlan, British Columbia. Chris' outrageous stories, his laughter that would fill a room and his larger than life personality will be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends and family throughout the world.

After attending  Arran Tara Elementary School and Chesley District High School, Chris studied Agricultural Economics and Business at the University of Guelph and then received his Masters of Business Administration and Management at York University, Toronto.  Chris spent many years working in Market Research at Maritz Research, Hotspex and GfK in Toronto and later, was a Professor of Business at the College of the North Atlantic - Qatar, and  at the University College of Bahrain.

Although Chris had travelled much of the world, everyone knew that he was most happy when he was at his loved home in Tara, Ontario.  He, along with his best friend and Dad, Roger, loved to entertain at the Riverside Bar and Grill and it was obvious that Chris loved being surrounded by his family and friends.  His parties over the past few years were memorable and everyone that had attended one always wanted to be on the invitation list for the next one.  The menu was always one of a kind and always seemed to include at least one food item that most people in Bruce County had never heard of!  Nobody ever left hungry!

Chris was a published author, a Storyteller extraordinaire and an startlingly impressive painter, having just recently received his shipment of over 120 paintings from his time in Qatar earlier this year. He liked to golf and excelled at Karaoke in Tara, Toronto and Dubai.

Please join us to celebrate Chris' life on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 2 - 5 pm at Tara Rotary Park in the Roger Thorne Pavilion, in Tara, Ontario with a special tribute to Chris at 3 pm.  Please bring a lawnchair and since this is an unlicenced facility, please bring your own personal refreshments.  Food will be served.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Prostate Cancer - Movember  or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
