Dear Thorne family,
I was shocked and very saddened by this sudden news. I will always enjoy our time at work and at play (esp at play). His dedication to Movember was infectious, and I have participated in a few moments of my own since. Always will remember.

So sorry to hear about Chris' sudden passing, my condolences to his family. I knew Chris while working at Hotspex, and have a fond memory when we were put on the same summer BBQ team for the annual company BBQ competition. Our theme was Oktoberfest, and rather than make it easy by ordering in all of our food, Chris happily took the reins on the menu! I remember him telling me with a lot of pride and delight how he was already prepping and marinating some food a few days ahead of our BBQ. He wanted to put in the extra effort to make sure everyone attending enjoyed the meal. I've attached a few photos of him from the BBQ. Great memories, he will be missed.
It would be an understatement to say that Chris has been an important part of my life for over 15 years. We both arrived in the country of Bahrain at the same time...on the same flight in August 2004. He very quickly became a legend with his ever widening group of friends at the Royal Golf Club, Bahrain Rugby Club (Golden Oldies) and Hash House Harriers Running Club. After leaving Bahrain, Chris flew out to Amsterdam in 2008 to play rugby for the Bahrain Vagabonds, once again rekindling old friendships and making new ones. A few years later he flew six sectors from Toronto through Europe to reach Dubai for Paul Clancy's bachelor party...and 48 hours later was on a six sector flight back to Toronto for work. Chris would return to the Arabian Gulf for another employment opportunity in Doha, Qatar. Once again picking up with old friends and meeting new ones. His heart was always with his home town Tara and his thoughts always warranted a happy mention of his dad Roger.
Thank you Chris for your stories, good humour and decade long friendship. You have given us a lifetime of 'Chris Thorne Stories' which when reminiscing will bring me a happy tear and sore ribs from the laughter.
'Clinky Clinky' and CHEERS but not goodbye.
Love, your brother Scott
I met Chris in Doha just two years ago. I mentioned that I love Arabic coffee pots. Chris said, “if you buy one, I will paint it.” Off to the souq I went. I have something like 12 paintings of that pot. Some of which I have here in my office. These are 3 of my favorites. Chris was a special soul and I feel extremely blessed to have met him. Rest In Peace
These are from 2006 at Dave (Sowards) and my wedding in the UK. He was the life and soul of the party. He will be missed.
