Wolfgang shaped my life . I had the privilege to be coached by him and become the youngest of the first London gymkips gymnasts.
He was the best coach I ever had in my life and I have had many.
He was supportive, encouraging and a talented coach .
I am sure he has shaped so many life’s.
Thank you Wolfgang
I am sure you are keeping the angel’s in shape ❤️

I will always remember the House League Soccer Games when you coached and cheered us on from the side lines; the many Friday night soccer games at the German-Canadian Club. It was fun when you would come over to cheer Germany during the Euro & World Cup over some pretzels and beer. The love of the sport of soccer is one of the many things that we enjoyed together and hope to share with your grandson Kurtis.

My condolences Sonja and your family.
I was a proud student of gymnastics under Wolfgang for many years. My sister and I attended the Byron Recreation Program under Wolfgang's guidance for most of my childhood. His passion for the sport was inspiring. He developed our gymnastic skills as well as, and most importantly, our self esteem. I will never forget the first time (I was about 11 years old) when he chose me to be with "the big girls" and be an assistant on the equipment as the other students were trying a new skill. From that week on, he included me with the older girls, who I considered to be far superior in their skills than myself, but he could see my effort and passion for a sport that I loved. I have never forgotten the confidence that gave me. Over the years I have thought of him often. He was a coach that made a difference!
Thinking of you and your family.

Wolfgang was a powerful influence on many youngsters (and their parents) during his tenure with the London Gymkips. He brought gymnastics to life in London. Not only did he bring tremendous skill to his coaching but also other admirable qualities including compassion, understanding, and the value of a focused work ethic. I doubt that there was a single child counseled by Wolfgang who does not recall his presence. Wolfgang, I'm sure, will be remembered fondly by all those who participated on the floor or in the stands during his years with the London Gypkips. But for Wolfgang's efforts there would have been no London Gymkips. Our deepest sympathies to Sonja and Marc and Gerrit.

My sincere condolences to Sonya and all of Wolfgang's family. Having been coached by Wolfgang for years in my youth, I often think of him and how he generously gave his time to myself and others he coached. He was an amazing coach and will always be treasured. He certainly instilled in me a desire to work hard to achieve success, not just in gymnastics but throughout life.
When I was 10 he gave me a beautiful mounted picture of me doing a peach basket on bars with him spotting me. Every once in a while I come across it in my old "gymnastics box" and think of him fondly.
He will be missed. Though the world has lost a great man, he will not be forgotten.
